‘Tis the season of giving!

December 1, 2022 begins our third annual

HOPE KIT DRIVE

EVERY YEAR RISE UP KC HOSTS A DRIVE FOR ESSENTIAL ITEMS NEEDED BY LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO GIVE SURVIVORS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. THESE ITEMS ARE VITAL TO THEIR RESCUE AND RECOVERY.

You can help us by

1. donating supplies online

2. follow us on social media & share our posts!

We have partnered with 4 local non-profits

THAT HELP LOCAL VICTIMS & SURVIVORS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING EVERY DAY –
RIGHT HERE IN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA.

“These kits would be a wonderful help to our organization in providing necessary hygiene [items] to the women we serve. They also make wonderful outreach bags to women still on the streets.”

Roxie Loyd, CADC

Director of Program and Services

“The survivor typically does not have anything with her, especially at the hospital ER. She feels loved and cared about when we bring that bag. Also, it breaks the ice between her and our advocate, which opens communication between them. This allows us to provide her with better services.”

Denise Lester

Founder and Executive Director

“These kits will support survivor leaders in conducting outreach to share with individuals who are being commercially sexually exploited – that they are seen, they are valued, and there are supports to empower them to exit, to heal, and to thrive!”

Lucy Bloom

Executive Director

“Providing for the survivor’s basic needs like this just overwhelms them with gratitude. Particularly when it’s coming from all different directions. It really motivates them to press on in good ways!”

Deb Kluttz

Executive Director

What’s in a Hope Kit?

Each Hope Kit contains essential items that victims and survivors need to help them start their recovery journey AND give them a sense of Hope that there are people out there that love them.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED TO THE HOPE KIT DRIVE & FOR THE CONTINUOUS SUPPORT & PRAYERS!

2021 Hope Kit Drive

Our 2021 Hope Kit Drive and Assembly looked and felt a little different this year. We want to share with you some of the challenges we faced (our partners continue to face the same challenges) and the successes of 2021.

  1. The state of the world made it difficult for people to donate items. We’ve been told by our partners that the first thing people do during tough times is stop their donations. However, despite the hardships everyone faced in their lives, for one reason or another, we successfully completed our goals and our partners (who service trafficking victims & survivors) now have the items they need. We are so thankful for those who donated in 2021!
  2. Many jumped off the “Save our Children” bandwagon making it more difficult to spread the word. Thank you to everyone who stayed with us and to all the new people that joined us! Your efforts to share our posts/stories made a huge difference!
  3. Rise Up KC is 100% managed by volunteers. Between selling our houses, moving, getting new jobs, traveling for work, starting the homestead journey, raising little ones, and navigating the COVID world, we were sadly unable to meet with the community to assemble. But we still got all of the kits assembled and hand-delivered to all of our partner organizations! We anticipate an assembly event for 2022!

All that being said, thank you all so much for the continued support and prayers. Please don’t forget that every little bit counts. Check out Our Partners page to see how you can continue to help them! Together, We Rise!

What a blast our first annual Hope Kit Drive was! Thank you to everyone who donated items, wrote notes and helped assemble! We were blown away by the support we received. Our partner organizations were so thankful. They will be able to provide these kits directly to human trafficking victims & survivors. Thank you, KC! Together, We Rise!
